Wisconsin quarterbacks Jack Coan and Graham Mertz were both listed on the list of Heisman odds released by Circa Sports.
The redshirt freshman passer was at +17500 to win the trophy at the end of the season and the returning starter was at +12500. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Both of their odds might seem really low right now, but that’s simply because oddsmakers have no idea which one will be the starting quarterback.
Until head coach Paul Chryst makes a decision on whether he’ll stick with Coan or switch to Mertz, neither one will have great odds.
As soon as the first game of the season rolls around, you can expect the starting quarterback to get a gigantic boost.
Given the fact Coan has better odds at the moment, it’s a sign oddsmakers think he has the edge in the starting quarterback battle.

It’s all the more reason to throw money down on Mertz if you think he can steal Coan’s job and dominate under center for the Badgers.
Who will Chryst pick to lead the team? I think he’ll start the season with Coan, and give Mertz more and more reps as time goes by.
No matter what happens, I have complete faith in Chryst’s decision-making. He’s done more than enough to earn that over the past few years.
