College football teams will reportedly need a month and a half of practice before they can play games.
According to Stadium, the NCAA’s Football Oversight Committee will recommend a six week window for practices before games can get underway. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
With the first games slated to start August 29, football players would need to be back to practicing by July 20. Teams that start the following weekend could get to work as late as July 27.

This is more or less what I’ve been told by a lot of optimistic people involved with football when it comes to the timeline of the sport starting.
The latest start date I’ve heard is the start of August. That matches up within a few days of Brett McMurphy’s report.
That’s a pretty substantial time window for us to figure out coronavirus before July 27 rolls around.

However, I’ve heard from other people they need athletes to be training in June in order to guarantee safety.
That obviously shrinks the window to win this war substantially.

Six weeks sounds about right to me. That gives players plenty of time to condition, learn what needs to be learned and prepare for the first snap of the season.
This is a very fluid situation, but I’d like to think late July is possible. At the very least, it’s important to maintain a positive attitude.
