Testing football players the night before games is an option on the table to make sure the season happens.

Infectious disease specialist and epidemiologist Dr. Michael Saag spoke with Paul Finebaum about how to save the season from coronavirus Wednesday, and suggested testing players the Friday night before games.

Players who test positive for the virus would be held out Saturday. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

If this is all that needs to be done in order to make sure the season happens, then let’s get down to business.

Here’s a little fun fact for everyone out there. Most major D1 football teams already put players up in hotels before home games.

It’s done to keep an eye on players, control the schedule and make sure they’re not up to any funny business the night before a game.

It really wouldn’t be hard at all to just test them at the hotel. The players are already isolated. You’d just need to bring in a medical team to do the testing.

I think Saag’s idea is a really good one. Test everyone the night before, hold out sick players and let everyone else play.

I also love the stakes this scenario provides. Imagine the starting quarterback of a team testing positive the night before the biggest game of the year. Now, that’s the kind of drama we live for in sports.

If this is the scenario we go with, I’m here for it!
