Drinking has somehow gone down during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Bloomberg, researcher ISWR found that people are drinking less during the ongoing pandemic, and alcohol consumption around the world “isn’t expected to return to pre-Covid-19 levels until 2024.” (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Furthermore, it’s expected that the USA will need several more years to fully bounce back from the decline in drinking. Bloomberg pointed out that things already weren’t great before coronavirus in America when it came to alcohol sales because of a focus on “healthier” lifestyles and non-alcoholic beer.

This is honestly shocking to me. How are people drinking less during the coronavirus pandemic? That doesn’t make any sense at all.

In fact, I’d argue that it makes less than zero sense. It’s either that, or I grossly overestimated how people would cope.

I figured people being stuck inside all day and not being able to go to work would lead to more drinking. I damn sure didn’t expect it to lead to less.

Yet here we are and it’s now going to take years to bounce back. That is honestly nothing short of shocking to me.

Have I been drinking more during the pandemic? No, but I also wouldn’t say I’ve been drinking less. That much is for sure.
