Actress and singer Miley Cyrus has been sued by a photographer who claims Cyrus snagged a photo that didn’t belong to her and then posted it on her Instagram account.

The photo was taken of Cyrus at New York Fashion Week by Atlanta-based photographer Chosen Figure, according to a report published Thursday by Page Six.

“Defendants ran the photograph on their website to promote their brand,” lawyer Richard Liebowitz reportedly wrote in the lawsuit. “Defendants did not license the photograph … nor did defendants have Plaintiff’s permission or consent to publish the photograph.”

The photo of Cyrus leaving the Marc Jacobs fashion show on Feb. 12 ended up receiving 2,618,259 likes on Instagram, Page Six reported. (RELATED: Miley Cyrus Remembers Dress She Thought Would End Her Music Career)

The defendant is asking for $150,000 in damages, according to Page Six.

While $150,000 seems like a ton of money for a single shot of Cyrus, that’s probably pocket change for Cyrus at this point in her career.

I always wonder whether the celebrities actually know they are snagging photographers’ photos. I also wonder if, had Cyrus known, she would have credited it.

I guess it doesn’t really matter. I’m not even sure if these lawsuits actually go anywhere.

Now, let’s talk about how amazing Cyrus looks in that outfit. She really killed her looks at New York Fashion Week this year.
