The college football season could potentially be delayed more than a month.

According to Sports Illustrated, the season could be pushed back to October or November amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

The SI report indicated that pushing the season back at least a month would be done “with hope that treatments progress and the very earliest vaccines perhaps become available by then.”

If the season has to be delayed, then pushing it back to October is probably the best case scenario. It’s only a month difference.

Will fans complain, moan and try to resist? No doubt at all, but I’d rather have a month delay than no season at all.

Having said that, I’m not sure pushing back the season to October in hopes of a vaccine existing is very realistic.

I might not be a doctor, but are we that close to a vaccine? October isn’t that far away, and I’ve seen nothing to suggest we’re super close to a vaccine.

Overall, we’re all still hoping the season starts on time. Football is meant to be played on Saturdays in the fall. It’s not meant to start in November, and it’s damn sure not meant to be played in the spring.

While I won’t be happy about it, I can certainly live with a start date beginning in October. November is a much more difficult sell, but October seems doable.
