The SEC has postponed several sports through the end of August.

According to a Tuesday release from the powerhouse conference, volleyball, soccer and cross country have all been suspended through at least August 31 during the coronavirus pandemic. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

While this isn’t good news for people who participate in the sports above, it’s also not a reason to panic.

No offense to the volleyball players around the world, but Nick Saban, Ed Orgeron and the rest of SEC football coaches couldn’t care less about sports like volleyball and soccer.

When it comes to playing football in the fall, non-revenue generating sports will have no impact whatsoever on the decisions being made.

Is it unfortunate for the soccer players in the SEC? Sure, but it ultimately doesn’t mean much. It means literally nothing for football.

Anyone who thinks “if soccer can’t happen, then football can’t either” is an idiot.

Now, that’s not to say football in the SEC is guaranteed to happen. I have no idea if it will or won’t happen, and nobody else does either.

I’m simply stating the fact that minor sports like soccer and cross country getting postponed means nothing for playing some football during the coronavirus pandemic.
