Clemson is the top football team in America in the AP preseason poll.

The first AP poll of the season was released Monday afternoon, and Dabo Swinney and the Tigers were sitting at the top. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Teams not playing (looking at you, Big 10) were still eligible to be voted for, and Ohio State came in second. Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma rounded out the top five. So, in reality, Alabama is the second team in America.

In all seriousness, why the hell are teams not playing eligible to be voted for? Is Ohio State just supposed to stay at number two all season?

As funny as that would be and the gigantic middle finger it’d present to Kevin Warren, it’s also just stupid.

Teams not playing shouldn’t be included in any polls. Does it pain me to say that because it would have been a great year for the Big 10? Yes, but it’s the right thing to do.

Including teams not playing is just going to screw up everything. Clemson is one, Alabama is two and we’ll figure out everything else from there.

As usual, Clemson and Alabama are expected to roll. While it’s going to be a strange year, I look forward to the storylines those two teams will provide all season. It’s a damn shame Ohio State and Wisconsin got robbed of a shot at the title, but that’s just sports in 2020!
