Poet Amanda Gorman’s two books became Amazon’s top sellers less than a day after reciting poetry at President Joe Biden’s inauguration, The Hill reported Thursday.

Gorman, who is also 22 years old, made history as the youngest person to recite poetry at a president‘s inauguration, The Hill reported. (RELATED: Chris Wallace Says Biden’s Inaugural Speech Is The Best He Has Ever Heard)

“I AM ON THE FLOOR MY BOOKS ARE #1 & #2 ON AMAZON AFTER 1 DAY!” Thank you so much to everyone for supporting me and my words,” Gorman tweeted Wednesday.

“As Yeats put it: ‘For words alone are certain good: Sing, then,'” Gorman tweeted.

At the time of publishing, Gorman’s two books were Amazon’s top two books under the “New Releases” subcategory, according to a screenshot of Amazon’s website.

The poet recited “The Hill We Climb” in the Wednesday ceremony following Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s swearing-in as president and vice president, The Hill reported.

“Somehow we’ve weathered and witnessed a nation that isn’t broken but simply unfinished. We the successors of a country and a time, where a skinny Black girl descended from slaves and raised by a single mother can dream of becoming president only to find herself reciting for one,” Gorman read, according to The Hill.
Gorman was 19 years old when she became the first to be awarded the National Youth Poet Laurette, according to Poets & Writers in 2017.
Gorman didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
