Video Shows Man Choking, Punching 64-Year-Old In NYC Before Speeding Away In Mercedes

A video released Tuesday by the NYPD shows a man choking and punching a 64-year-old victim before speeding away in a Mercedes.

The incident took place in the vicinity of Eldert Street and Wyckoff Avenue of Brooklyn, New York. Video from NYPD Crime Stoppers shows the suspect arguing with the victim moments before the 64-year-old is choked and punched repeatedly in the head.

The elderly man is then thrown to the ground, where he is repeatedly hit and punched in the face and body before a bystander attempted to intervene, video shows. (RELATED: 82-Year-Old Man Assaulted, Has Cane Stolen In New York City Corner Store)

The victim man was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center for swelling and bruising to his face and torso, according to the New York Post.

Police are offering a $3,500 reward for information about the suspect.

New York has seen a large increase in crime, including a 41% increase in homicides from 2019-2020. Shootings and robberies were up 73% and 46%, respectively, in NYC in May compared to the same month last year.

Burglaries were up 42%, while car theft increased by 67%.
