The Baltimore Ravens pulled off an awesome move Sunday night to honor Michael K. Williams.

The star of “The Wire” recently passed away at the age of 54, and he’ll forever be remembered as Omar on the hit HBO show, which was about the drug trade in Baltimore. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

One of Omar’s most famous traits was his ominous whistle whenever he was on his way to shake things up.

Prior to beating the Chiefs 36-35 Sunday night, the Ravens played his whistling as the team took the field. You can watch the awesome moment below.

It’s not often you see an NFL team honor someone like this, but “The Wire” really did transcend the world of entertainment.

It wasn’t just a TV show. It was a TV show about life in Baltimore in a way that most people had never seen before.

It shined a very raw and real light on the drug trade, and that’s why millions and millions of fans watched.

Without Williams as Omar, it wouldn’t have been a fraction as popular.

Props to the Ravens for taking a small moment to a character and man forever tied to the city of Baltimore.
