Los Angeles Chargers kicker Dustin Hopkins shared his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior after a big win over the Denver Broncos on Monday.

Hopkins explained that his Christian faith was a leading force in his persevering despite fighting through a hamstring injury, according to ESPN.

Hopkins thanked Jesus in his post-win interview. “I just want to say thank you to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I’ve got so much to be thankful for apart from football,” he said in an interview with ESPN.

Hopkins began his interview first and foremost by thanking Christ and acknowledging everything in his life he can be thankful for. During the game against the Broncos, Hopkins injured his hamstring while making a kick in the first half, according to the outlet.

He described the pain as a stabbing feeling every time he went up to kick. “Before every kick, you knew that it was going to feel like somebody stabbed you with a knife,” Hopkins said, according to ESPN. “I was just kind of committed to swinging and dealing with the pain after the kick.” (RELATED: Sports Betters Must Have Freaked Out At NY Giant Saquon Barkley’s Last-Second Decision)
