A fan threw a drink on the court forcing a pause in a Dallas Mavericks-Brooklyn Nets game Thursday.

It appears the fan targeted Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić. Arena security stopped the fan before they tried to flee away after throwing the cup, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN. Local police later arrested the individual, Bontemps reported.

Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd was involved in another drinking incident that happened in Barclays Center that made him a witness of what can be considered the two largest drink-related stoppages of an NBA game in the arena.

Kidd infamously told Tyshawn Taylor to bump into him during a game so he could “drop his drink” to cause a shortage in the contest. As a result, the league fined Kidd $50,000.
We now await to see what the drink-throwing fan’s repercussions will be.
It is currently unknown what the individual is facing in terms of charges. (RELATED: Former NBA Superstar-Turned-Coach Loses It On Refs, Gets Ejected In Epic Fashion)
Another incident involving the Brooklyn Nets happened during the 2021 NBA Playoffs at the Boston Celtics‘ home arena, TD Garden, where a Boston fan threw a water bottle at Brooklyn’s Kyrie Irving and was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. The fan would also be banned from TD Garden.
Honestly, the first reaction that you have to give in the Luka Dončić story is: What else would you expect from New York City sports fans?
And Boston sports fans at that with the Celtics story.
With New York in particular, how many times have we seen the headline, specifically from Yankees fans, of how they were throwing something on the field?
It happens all the time. Nothing to see here, folks.
Just typical New York City bulls**t.
