Daily Caller co-founder and Fox News host Tucker Carlson said Monday that the border crisis is the “biggest story in recent American history.”

The Supreme Court temporarily halted the end of Title 42 on Monday, following an emergency appeal from 19 states. More than 230,000 migrant encounters have occurred since the end of fiscal year 2023 in October, with an average of 2,460 daily encounters during one weekend of December.

Title 42 is a Trump-era policy that provided authorities with the scope to send illegal immigrants back to their country of origins without legal review and was designed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The policy was expanded under the Biden administration.

“This is the biggest story in recent American history; a total change in the American population. Millions and millions and millions of new people, the country will never be what it was five years ago,” Carlson told viewers on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” He then noted that the story is being ignored by most of the media.

Twitter owner Elon Musk asked Monday, “why do so few report about millions of people crossing the border?” His question was prompted by a clip shared by Fox News’ Bill Melugin of the extreme overcrowding conditions at a Border Patrol Central Processing Center in El Paso, Texas. President Joe Biden has yet to visit the southern border with Mexico, claiming that “there are more important things going on” when asked by Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy. Other members of the Biden administration have previously said that the border is “secure” despite the historic, unprecedented rise in illegal crossings in recent years.
