Vice President Kamala Harris will reportedly visit Iowa on Thursday, days after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and GOP 2024 presidential hopefuls flocked to the state.

The trip will mark the first time Harris has been to the early caucus state, and the vice president will be convening with local leaders for an abortion rights event, CNN reported.

The White House hopes to make abortion a central topic in the 2024 presidential debate, and Harris has traveled the country promoting abortion rights since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in May 2022, meeting with local leaders and pushing back against pro-life policies. (RELATED: White House Aims To Influence State Abortion Rights Before 2024 Election)

Biden, who is expected to announce his 2024 presidential bid soon, has not traveled to the state. The president pushed for Democrats to move the first state in the presidential primary calendar to South Carolina instead of Iowa, but Harris’ visit shows the administration is keeping an eye on the first state to hold a Republican caucus. Trump traveled to Iowa on Monday in his first trip to the state since announcing his candidacy, on the heels of DeSantis’ first-time visit Friday. DeSantis held events surrounding his book release and met with Republican leaders in the state, and Trump held a rally and engaged in a question-and-answer session with the audience.

2024 contender Nikki Haley also wrapped up a three-day trip to the state, and Vivek Ramaswamy traveled to Iowa in February in his first trip as a presidential candidate.
