The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office arrested three male suspects Thursday in connection with the March 21 assault on artist Tekashi 6ix9ine at an LA Fitness in South Florida.

Rafael Medina, Jr., Octavious Medina and Anthony Maldonado have been charged with assault and robbery and have been processed into the county jail, according to TMZ. Police arrested them based on surveillance footage that allegedly showed the men following Tekashi into the gym and striking him repeatedly.

The motive behind their alleged attack remains unclear, and police have not yet determined whether the three men charged have any connection to the gang members that Tekashi testified against in federal court.

The artist cut a deal with the prosecution while he was incarcerated and testified against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, Jim Jones and Cardi B. in order to lessen his own jail sentence. His plea bargain led him to be called a ‘snitch’ and he became the main target of the gang, according to the New York Times.

Tekashi spent some time in hiding after he was released from prison but then quickly resurfaced on social media to troll his enemies and taunt those who threatened retaliation. Despite his injuries from the beating, which required medical care, Tekashi claimed he would not increase his security, according to TMZ.
