HBO Max dropped the full trailer for “True Detective: Night Country” on Wednesday, and it looks like the most terrifying installment of the series to-date.

Starring Jodie Foster as Liz Danvers and Kali Reis as Evangeline Navarro as the lead detectives, the plot appears to follow them as they investigate a chilling murder in Alaska’s night country. Eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace, leaving Danvers and Navarro to figure out just what the heck happened out there in the darkness, Deadline reported.

Night country is defined as the long winter night that falls over Ennis, Alaska, annually, Deadline noted.

Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, Isabella Star Lablanc, Aka Niviâna, Anna Lambe, Joel D. Montgrand, Christopher Eccleston, and John Hawkes are joining Foster and Reis for the series, which can’t come soon enough. Although there is no official release date just yet, my hope is that “True Detective” fills the gap left by “Yellowstone” in the summer season’s television line-up.

Though, given the storyline, it would probably be smart to release the season a lot later in the year. No one wants to watch the cold when it’s 80 degrees outside. (RELATED: ‘True Detective’ Will Finally Return In 2023. Check Out The Chilling Teaser)

It’s also the first all-female-fronted iteration of the series. Past series saw Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams, and Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff in the leading roles. While I don’t usually care about the gender of cast members (my femininity is stronger than most feminists), it is kinda cool to see two tough women take on such a haunting premise.
