What on earth was this?!

One of the top prospects in the Cleveland Guardians‘ minor league system, George Valera, is making headlines for his performance Thursday night — it just wasn’t the performance his team wanted.

Valera plays for the Columbus Clippers (Triple-A), who squared off against the Nashville Sounds in Tennessee. In the third inning, Valera came to the plate where he would eventually be up against a 1-2 count. However, the game abruptly came to a halt after Valera had an obvious issue with something that Sounds catcher Alex Jackson said or did. With Valera and Jackson chirpin’, the umpire got in between them, and that’s when ish hit the fan.

Valera gave a shove to the umpire to get him out of the way, and that’s when he decided to throw a punch at Jackson, but it being (and I’m just being honest here) a god awful punch, it didn’t even phase the Nashville catcher. Despite that though, benches cleared and an outright brawl would break out from there. Both Valera and Jackson ended up being ejected.

I’d be so embarrassed if I was George Valera (who is the No. 2 prospect for the Guardians, by the way).

Not only did he throw that little weak punch to get all of this embarrassment started, but now he’s being forced to swim in that embarrassment through the press (like this blog) and social media. And on top of all that, literally nobody is talking about his game now, just how much of a loose cannon he is — a loose cannon who doesn’t know how to throw punches. What a lame this guy turned himself into. Terrible.
