Famous actor Jerry O’Connell is being hailed as a hero for reportedly leaping into action when he saw a food truck on fire Sunday in Malibu.

Law enforcement said the sheriff’s deputies located the food truck fire and ran to assist the man who was seemingly trapped in the vehicle, according to TMZ. They were able to pull the man out and immediately began moving the propane tanks that were near the trunk to get them as far away from the fire as possible. O’Connell happened to drive past the scene with his twin daughters in the car and immediately ran toward the flames, per the outlet.

O’Connell moved quickly toward the fire and removed a gas can that was near the truck, TMZ noted. This put him at great risk, since the fire was burning very close to the Truck.

Law enforcement said the flames were spreading to a nearby field, per the Daily Mail.

O’Connell’s heroics didn’t end there. He also scaled a fence to get a hold of a fire extinguisher and proceeded to fight the fire on his own until firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived to take command of the scene, according to TMZ.

The famous actor and firefighters were unable to save the food truck from burning, but sources confirmed the “Stand By Me” actor played an integral role in helping to keep the fire under control and avert more significant damage, TMZ reported. (RELATED: Fire Breaks Out At Famous Hollywood Studio)
