A suspect allegedly stabbed and penetrated a man’s skull with a flagpole Tuesday evening near an Oklahoma Sonic, according to the Tulsa Police Department (TPD)

Witnesses said the suspect, Clinton Collins, charged the victim before stabbing him with a flagpole bearing an American flag, the TPD wrote in a Facebook statement.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers saw a “male victim with a flagpole through his head,” according to the post. “The pole entered the victim’s head beneath his jaw and exited the other side of his head near his right temple area.”

“That’s what he gets. He deserved it,” Collins reportedly said after the alleged attack, the Tulsa Police Department wrote.

Collins “was arrested for Maiming AFCF (After Former Conviction of a Felony),” and Tulsa Fire Department officials were forced to “cut [a] part of the flagpole in order to fit the victim into the ambulance,” the statement continued. “Miraculously, we’re told the victim will survive his injuries, but will likely lose an eye,” TPD wrote. The Tulsa County Clerk of Courts office said Collins, a Muscogee (Creek) Nation member, will face either a tribal or U.S. District Court, The Associated Press reported.
