A man was reportedly “split in half” after jumping 750 feet from a hotel roof in Manhattan on Thursday.

Police said the man jumped from the roof of the five-star luxury Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Columbus Circle at around 9 p.m. Thursday, according to the New York Post. The man fell 750 feet onto the hotel’s glass awning, and severed his body in half at some point during the fall, unnamed sources told the outlet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s not believed the man was a guest or resident of the hotel. He’s said to have taken a service elevator to the roof, the NY Post reported. He was wearing pajama pants, slippers and a shirt, according to an unnamed police officer cited by Daily Mail.

A severed arm was allegedly found across the street, where construction equipment and scaffolding was covered in blood, police told the NY Post. A building employee said the marquee cut the man in half, Daily Mail reported. The deceased’s identity is not yet known.
