Old glory is back!

CEO Dana White gave confirmation that UFC‘s ban on fighters bringing flags into the octagon is now over, becoming official after the company’s UFC Fight Night 229.

After getting a second-round submission victory Saturday against Abdul Razak Alhassan, Joe Pyfer celebrated the win by draping an American flag across his shoulders — the first time a fighter had used a flag in a year.

Following the event, White was asked why Pyfer was allowed to fly the United States flag in the cage, which led the UFC CEO to gloriously reveal that the ban has been lifted, with the rule change stemming from a recent Noche UFC event. The ban is believed to have originated from the Russia-Ukraine war.

“Flags are back,” said White. “I was on vacation during the Mexican Independence Day and the no flag thing drove me crazy, so I was like, ‘Fuck that, we’re bringing flags back.’ When the decision was made to do this…[I thought] what’s the big deal if they don’t have flags? Mexican Independence Day flicked the switch for me.”

White said the move from UFC was originally made with good intentions, but now feels like the UFC needs to change course. (RELATED: ‘F*ck You’: Amar’e Stoudemire Blasts ‘Cowardly’ Black Lives Matter, Politicians For Silence On Israel Attacks)

“There are a lot of things that go on in a company this big – you can’t micro-manage everything,” White said. “Sometimes, things are done for the intentions of the right reasons. Everybody in this room knows the way that I feel about a lot of things. Basically, ‘I don’t give a fuck,’ is the answer to most things. Everybody is too soft and too sensitive about everything.”
