Country music icon Morgan Wallen finally addressed his most recent life-changing decision: shaving his mullet. And his reasoning is very heartfelt.
Wallen was known for his incredible songwriting skills, unique Tennessee twang … and for bringing back the best hairstyle in history, the mullet. But in August, tragedy struck. Wallen arrived for one of his shows and revealed his newly buzzed skull sans mullet.
But why did Wallen walk away from his signature style? “Honestly, I just had been talking about it for a couple years,” Wallen told the Superstar Power Hour show. “I had a shaved head for a long time in high school and maybe I just thought I would never go back to that, I don’t know. But I just kind of got tired of my hair and for a couple of years, I’ve been telling a lot of people around me that I’m going to shave it. One night I was by myself and shaved it off and that was it.”

The world initially recoiled in shock at his decision, before realizing Wallen’s new vibe is seriously maturing him. The “Chasing You” singer turned 30 in 2023, and while this isn’t exactly old, as a fellow 1993 baby (with mostly 1993-born friends), it feels very different to other birthdays. Perhaps Wallen is also realizing there are no adults here to fix the problems facing our generation, so now he has to be an adult himself, with adult hair? Maybe his Millennial extended youth is over, so he changed his aesthetic to fit his internal dialogue. Or, maybe he just wanted a new haircut… we’ll never really know because that’s his private business. We’re just here for the music.
