Australian actor Jacob Elordi is under investigation by the New South Wales police for allegedly assaulting a reporter Saturday, multiple outlets reported Sunday and Monday.

Elordi allegedly assaulted KIIS FM staffer, 33-year-old Joshua Fox, according to The Daily Telegraph. The Australian actor had returned to his homeland in anticipation of the AACTA Awards scheduled for Feb. 10. Fox has gained a following for gatecrashing weddings on the reality show “Married At First Sight” and sharing the moments on his Instagram account, MAFS Funny. He reportedly approached Elordi with questions that seemed to irritate the “Priscilla” actor.

A spokesperson for the NSW Police confirmed the incident happened, stating that the police are looking into a reported assault outside the hotel, according to news.com.au. (RELATED:‘Too Dark For Me’: Jacob Elordi Reveals The Massive Role He Declined To Audition For Before Playing Elvis)

“Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command are investigating after a man was allegedly assaulted outside a hotel in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs,” a statement reads, news.com.au reported. “Police were told about 3:30pm on Saturday 3 February 2024, a 32-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 26-year-old man. The man did not sustain any injuries.”

Fox spoke about the issue Monday on his morning show, “The Kyle & Jackie O Show“, Variety reported. Fox shared that he requested some of Elordi’s bathwater as a birthday gesture for Jackie O, alluding to a popular moment from “Saltburn.” Elordi then reportedly asked Fox to stop recording and remove the video, which allegedly caused the situation to escalate.

“I refuse to because I feel uncomfortable right now and this is the only evidence,” Fox recounted. “And then Jacob kind of just flips and he kind of pushes me against the wall and his hands are on my throat.”

Elordi is in the running for Best Supporting Actor at the AACTA Awards for his performance in “Saltburn.”
