Legendary late country superstar Toby Keith hit the top spot in the charts in mid-February, nudging out Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing At A Time.”
Keith died on Feb. 5 at the age of 62 following a two-year battle with stomach cancer. Within days, Keith made history as the first artist to fill nine of the top 10 spots on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales charts. He’s also in the No. 1 spot on the album charts for “35 Biggest Hits,” shoving Wallen out of the spot he’s held onto (on and off) for almost a year.
Wallen’s “One Thing At A Time” is currently tied with Garth Brooks “Ropin’ the Wind” for the most weeks spent in the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart for country albums, Forbes noted. Had Keith’s “35 Biggest Hits” not surged forward, Wallen could have claimed yet another historical victory for his work.

How disgustingly scummy do you have to be to do this? I highly doubt any artist will ever want to work with this label ever again. Such a stupid move.https://t.co/33xCGdDX38

Keith only beat Wallen by roughly 1,000 album units, which is a tiny amount when you take into account Keith sold 66,000 to Wallen’s 65,000, Forbes continued. (RELATED: Morgan Wallen Gives Rare Statement On His Most Recent Success)
Forbes believes next week’s No. 1 album will be Kanye West’s and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Vultures,” but we shall see. Until then, we’re sure Wallen will be busy working on his next big project. And, who knows, he might surprise us with some new tracks before the week is even up!
