A brawl broke out Tuesday between two Romanian members of parliament Tuesday, and video appears to show one lawmaker biting another’s face.
Video appears to show Dan Vîlceanu biting Florin Roman’s face during the struggle between the lawmakers. Roman posted on Facebook recounting that he and Vîlceanu were previously involved in a verbal tiff that allegedly escalated when Vîlceanu pushed him “towards the exit from the plenary,” Spot Media, a Romanian news outlet reported.

The conflict took place between Florin Roman, an MP of the National Liberal Party, and Dan Vulceanu, an independent MP.

“Outside the plenary hall, I was physically assaulted again, in a barbaric manner, with a knee blow to the nose area,” Roman claimed, according to the outlet. Roman further added that Vîlceanu attempted to bite him and held him by the neck, the outlet reportd.
Roman alleged that “he avoided any retaliation” out of respect for parliamentary decorum and that he would be lodging a criminal complaint against the violent parliamentarian, Spot Media reported. Vîlceanu denies using physical violence against Roman but admits to a verbal disagreement with him, the outlet noted citing G4Media. The member of parliament alleged that he “just grabbed” Roman “by the shoulders and escorted him out of the plenary hall after we had an exchange of words,” the outlet reported. Another parliamentarian, Florian Emil Dumitru claimed that Roman “was somehow getting up from the floor, with his hand on his nose, bloodied at the nose” after the altercation, Spot Media reported, citing Digi24 News. Dumitru noted that he did not see the fight itself, according to the outlet.
Footage broadcast by Antena 3 CNN appeared to show Roman pressing a white tissue against his nose.
