Sirius XM’s Megyn Kelly criticized President Joe Biden’s “play for sympathy” over Hunter Biden’s trial for his federal gun charge.

Biden released a statement saying that he is “the president” but is also “a dad” who is “so proud” of his son, who faces three felony gun charges brought by special counsel David Weiss. As jury selection kicked off Monday, Kelly ripped into Biden for attempting to “influence” potential jurors.

“So now we’ve got President Biden going to Wilmington and actually making a statement like, well on the eve of this trial,” Kelly said. “It’s still inappropriate. It’s not appropriate for a sitting president of the United States to be commenting on any sort of a criminal case. This, last week, when he commented on Trump. Stay out of it! Stop it!”

“In some way, shape, or form, you’re influencing things. The Trump case still has to go up on appeal, your son’s case is in the process of jury selection. So be quiet, shut up!” she exclaimed. “Pipe down, you don’t have to comment on everything. It’s a clear attempt to influence those Delawareans who love the family.”

Politico reported that anonymous sources close to the president describe him as carrying “so much worry and grief about his family all the time.” Biden was spotted biking with Hunter on June 1 and the president also recently paid a visit to his daughter-in-law, Hallie, who is expected to testify. “I will say, Biden is playing this politically well,” said Eliana Johnson, Kelly’s guest and an editor for the Washington Free Beacon. “From that vantage point, Biden is playing it politically well. Like, the best thing he can do is is a play for sympathy.”

Hunter Biden was indicted in Sept. 2023 for allegedly making false statements on a firearm purchase form and knowingly possessing a gun in 2018 while addicted to drugs. The case revolves around an alleged incident where Hallie Biden, Beau Biden’s widow who Hunter later dated, placed Hunter Biden’s gun inside a grocery store trash can in 2018, according to prosecutors.
