Fox Sports pundit Jason Whitlock defended NFL superstar Cam Newton saying his critics aren’t racist.

Newton did an interview with GQ and dismissed the notion that criticism of him is rooted in racism. “It’s not racism. Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion,” the Carolina Panthers star stated. (RELATED: Cam Newton: It’s Not Racist To Criticize Me [PHOTOS])

“Cam was trying to speak like a mature adult who represents a franchise, knows how he can be exploited by the media,” Whitlock said in Newton’s defense after some people weren’t happy with his refusal to embrace the racism narrative.

The biggest criticism the dual-threat quarterback has faced was for walking out of his postgame press conference after losing the Super Bowl. That had nothing to do with race, but was just a matter of being a poor sport.
