Frequent CNN guest and self-proclaimed GOP strategist Rick Wilson said Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s base wants to deport anyone “darker than a latte.”

Wilson, who once told a Trump supporter on-air that he would “gut [him] like a fish,” questioned the “moral standing” of Trump supporters on immigration during a CNN interview. (RELATED: Rick Wilson Melts Down, Threatens To ‘Gut’ Panelist ‘Like A Fish’ On CNN)

“Well, I think the pictures of the cruelty of this administration are a very deliberate part of this. They’re a feature, not a bug, of the Trump administration’s policy,” Wilson said of family separations at the border. “They’re only talking to their core supporters. And their core supporters want anybody who’s darker than a latte deported.”

“They’re not happy about, you know, immigration of any kind. They don’t believe in the asylum process,” Wilson continued. “They want to take and separate these families as a matter of deterrence and as a matter of, like I said, a sort of theater of cruelty. And I think it really doesn’t speak well to their moral standing.”

Wilson finished his point by calling White House policy adviser Stephen Miller a “white nationalist” and alleging that some in the Trump administration “love the whole optics of this cruel sort of exercise.”
