“Aquaman” continued its insane domination of the box office over the past few days.
The Hollywood Reporter reported the following Wednesday:
Warner Bros.’ “Aquaman” rang in 2019 with a shimmery New Year’s Day gross of $16.8 million, propelling the superhero pic past the $200 million mark domestically.
The tentpole, directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa in the titular role, finished Tuesday with a North American total of $216.3 and $606.6 million overseas for $822.9 million globally.
Well, it seems like every couple of days, we get an update on the numbers, and they only keep getting bigger and bigger as time passes. (RELATED: This Latest Superhero Movie Is Expected To Make A Sickening Amount Of Money)
The success of “Aquaman” is truly incredible. I can’t remember the last film that had an impact like this on the box office. It’s been out for a couple weeks, and in that time frame has managed to put up absolutely disgusting numbers. That’s what we call a hell of a lot of winning.
It must have been one hell of a Christmas season for everybody involved with this movie because money has been raining down on them for a while now.
You hear that sound off in the distance? That’s the sound of studio heads plotting and planning their billion dollar sequel. You can bet your life that will be coming down the pipeline sooner than later.
