The Los Angeles Angels will honor Tyler Skaggs with a uniform update for the rest of the season.

The Angels tweeted out a photo Wednesday of a number 45 patch they’ll wear for their remaining games after Skaggs died earlier in the week. (RELATED: Los Angeles Angels Pitcher Tyler Skaggs Dies)

He was found in a Texas hotel room during a series against the Rangers dead at the age 27. The cause of death isn’t known at this time.

This an an awesome gesture from the Angels. It obviously won’t make things any easier on the team, and it won’t take away the pain from losing a teammate.

However, it is a great way to honor a man who played baseball for the organization. People his age aren’t just supposed to drop dead, especially star athletes who are in shape.

According to USA Today, autopsy results might not be known until early October, which means fans and teammates will be waiting awhile to know what happened.

All around, it’s just a horrific situation, and there’s nothing in the world that’ll change that. Hopefully, putting Skaggs’ old number on the uniforms helps his teammates honor their friend.

What an awful and tragic time for Skaggs’ family and the Angels.
