The Florida band apparently had an ugly altercation with some Miami fans late Saturday night.

Band director Jay Watkins was placed in a choke hold and slammed into the ground after trying to stop people from approaching the band following the Gators beating the Hurricanes, according to CollegeMarching.com. Paramedics on site had to give him medical attention. It’s not known if any arrests were made or if police got involved at any point in time.

If this report is true, then Miami fans should be ashamed of themselves. Attack the band director? Are you kidding me?

Imagine being such a clown that you get all boozed up for a football game, lose it and then respond by going after the opposing team’s band director.

I’m not even a big pro-band guy. I think there’s really no need for them during college football games, but if you’re dumb enough to attack them, then you’re dumb enough to get arrested.

I hope like hell they find the trash Miami fans responsible for this incident. Find them, arrest them and maybe lose the key to their cells for a minute.

As I’ve said a million before, there is no reason to fight during sporting events. It’s the trashiest thing you can do.

Be better, Miami fans. Be much better.
