Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar has filed for divorce from her second husband Ahmed Hirsi after just a year of marriage.

A public records search confirmed that Omar filed a petition Friday in the state of Minnesota, following rumors that she was involved in an extramarital affair with a married Washington D.C. lobbyist. (RELATED: Things Are About To Get A Lot Of Worse For Ilhan Omar)

Omar is alleged to have been involved with 38-year-old Tim Mynett. FEC records previously confirmed that Omar’s campaign reimbursed $21,547 in travel expenses over the past few months for E. Street Group, where Mynett works as a partner. (RELATED: POLL: Plurality Of Israeli Jews Support Israel’s Decision To Ban Omar, Tlaib)

Since being sworn in to the House of Representatives in January, the freshman congresswoman has seen her personal life become the subject of intense speculation. Earlier this year it was confirmed that Omar had filed joint tax returns with Hirsi as early as 2014, even though the couple was not married until last year. At the time, Omar was still married to her first husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who she officially divorced in 2017.

Omar’s office has not responded to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
