Wisconsin assistant basketball coach Joe Krabbenhoft has been named one of the best young coaches in the sport.

ESPN dropped a list of the best coaches under the age of 40, and the former Badgers star found his name among other elite coaches. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Krabbenhoft has been on the Wisconsin staff for years, and appears primed to take over a head coaching job sooner than later.

Joe Krabbenhoft is the definition of a Wisconsin man. Ever since he played for the Badgers back in the day, he represents everything right about the Badgers.

The dude works insanely hard, he has a blue-collar mentality, he’s a grinder and he doesn’t know what it means to quit. That has propelled him to a great playing and coaching career.

One of the weird things about coaches is that you always want to see them succeed, but you always hate to see them leave the program.

I feel like that’s the path Wisconsin is on with Joe Krabbenhoft. I’d like the Badgers to keep him forever, but it’s not going to happen.

It might if Greg Gard was a few years away from retiring, but that’s obviously not the case. Krabbenhoft is going to get a D1 head coaching gig soon, and he should leave to take it.

Maybe, 20 years down the road, Krabbenhoft will come back home as the head coach. Anything is possible. All I know for sure is that he was a hell of a player and he’s a hell of a coach.

I’m glad to see him get a little recognition for it.
