A Russian powerlifter fractured both knees after attempting to lift roughly 882 pounds.

Alexander Sedykh attempted the lift at the World Raw Powerlifting Federation European Championship, according to a report published Thursday by the New York Post. The failed attempt at the lift was caught on video.

Sedykh suffered fractures in both his knees and had to be taken to the hospital. He went through six hours of surgery, the Post reported. His recovery from his injuries will reportedly last two months.

“The main thing is that I must lie motionless in bed for two months,” he said in a post on the WRPF Facebook page, according to the NYPost. “Then I’ll be taught how to walk again.”

This video is pretty gruesome. Sedykh’s screams are probably the worst part about it. It’s honestly a little hard to watch. (RELATED: Tucker Poolman Shows Off Facial Injury After Getting Hit By A Puck)

At least he will recover from these injuries, even if it means he has to spend two months lying literally motionless. I wonder if he goes back to lifting after this. Can you even go back to lifting when you suffer an injury of this magnitude?

Regardless, I hope he’s back to walking around soon.
