After Democratic Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler rejected President Donald Trump’s offer to send federal help to Portland on Friday, Trump took to twitter Monday criticizing Wheeler’s decision following a deadly shooting Saturday night.

“Portland is a mess, and it has been for many years. If this joke of a mayor doesn’t clean it up, we will go in and do it for them!”

The president also tweeted Monday that “radical left Mayors and Governors of Cities” were to blame. (RELATED: Trump Says Portland Mayor, Oregon Governor ‘Will Be Held Responsible’ For Violent Protests, Threatens To Step In)

“The Radical Left Mayors & Governors of Cities where this crazy violence is taking place have lost control of their ‘Movement.’ It wasn’t supposed to be like this, but the Anarchists & Agitators got carried away and don’t listen anymore-even forced Slow Joe out of basement!”

This comes after one man was shot and killed Saturday night in Portland. The police have yet to release the identities of the victim and shooter.

The president called Wheeler a “fool” in a Saturday tweet, saying that Portland “won’t put up with no safety any longer.”

Trump offered to send federal aid to the city on Aug. 22, tweeting he “would bring in National Guard, end problem immediately. ASK!”

Wheeler rejected the offer, according to an official statement.

“We don’t need your politics of division and demagoguery. Portlanders are onto you. We have already seen your reckless disregard for human life in your bumbling response to the COVID pandemic. And we know you’ve reached the conclusion that images of violence or vandalism are your only ticket to reelection,” the statement read.
