Jameis Winston didn’t win the backup quarterback job for the New Orleans Saints.

The former Bucs starter and Florida State Heisman winner is listed as the third string QB on the depth chart released by the team. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Drew Brees is the starter and Taysom Hill is listed as the backup. That means Winston is almost certainly not going to see the field this season.

It’s truly insane how far Winston has fallen in the past couple years. We’re talking about a guy who went first overall in the draft.

It’s also not like he was terrible for the Buccaneers. He showed some serious flashes, and everyone knows he has a strong arm.

Yet, Winston’s decision-making is downright pathetic at times on the field. He turns the ball over like it’s going out of style.

Now, he’s on the Saints and is more or less an emergency quarterback. Everyone knew that Taysom Hill was the future, but I don’t think we all expected him to be the backup this season.

In fact, I figured he wouldn’t play much QB at all, and Winston would serve as the backup for Brees. Clearly, I was wrong.

It’ll be interesting to see if Winston can rehab his career learning from Brees. If things don’t go well in New Orleans, then he’s probably done.
