Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond is going to the NFL.

The dual-threat passer for the Aggies announced Thursday that he’s done playing college ball and will enter the 2021 NFL draft. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

The move was expected, but Mond could have returned for another season if he wanted to. Clearly, he’s ready to take the next step in his career.

I’ll be very curious to see where Mond lands in the NFL. He looked outstanding at times with the Aggies and downright atrocious at other moments.

The dude is incredibly physically gifted, but he is wildly inconsistent.

In the NFL, you won’t make it far if you can’t consistently string together positive plays. Being a great athlete simply isn’t enough to get the job done.

Can Mond take a big step forward and find enough consistency to compliment his athleticism to stick around?

I’m sure he can, but it won’t happen on day one. The physical tools are there. He just needs to develop a bit more.

Either way, he had a solid college career, and it’s now time to find out what he can do in the NFL.
