A left-wing protester arrested while demonstrating against a Dave Chappelle show in Minneapolis is no stranger to expressing her ideology and raising a stink.

Rachel Lee Bean and other left-wing activists staged a “direct action” protest to pressure the Minneapolis venue’s management to cancel Chappelle’s performance due to his perceived transphobia, according to journalist Andy Ngô. Chappelle’s July 20, 21 and 22 performances were moved to a different Minneapolis venue.

Nonetheless, demonstrations against Chappelle continued through his July 22 show, footage posted to Twitter shows. Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) officers arrested Bean for first-degree assault and rioting on July 22 at an anti-Chappelle demonstration, according to Ngô. Bean is “a white, fat, disabled queer pivoting out of direct service social work after becoming disabled by Long Covid,” according to the biography on her personal website.

Bean helped coordinate the June 2020 squatter takeover of a Minneapolis hotel amid the post-George Floyd unrest, according to screenshots tweeted by Ngô. Bean and her fellow organizers referred to the occupied hotel as the “Sanctuary Hotel” in tweets seeking donations. The hotel quickly devolved into a hub for criminality. Police eventually cleared the hotel of squatters, but not before the occupants had trashed the facility, according to the Minnesota Reformer.

Bean authored a January 2021 blog post in which she details a particularly nasty experience at the workplace. “I literally sh*t my pants at 11:56 am on Wednesday January 13th, 2021. I got myself cleaned up and then I went back to work and finished the work day… my partner offered to bring me clothes which I declined,” the opening paragraph reads.

“That night, after I sh*t my pants at work, with the full clarity such a humble moment offers, I finally gave myself permission to file a short-term disability claim,” Bean continues in the post, referencing her struggles “dealing with Long Covid under capitalism.” (RELATED: ‘We Need The Police’: Minneapolis Voters Reject Measure To Abolish Police)

Bean’s comments are featured extensively in a Yahoo Finance article from December 2021, approximately 11 months after uploading her blog post. Bean bemoaned her levels of “exertion intolerance,” stating in the article that “eating is exertion, responding to voicemails and emails is exertion, paying attention to my clients is exertion.”

Bean alleged that her disability claim failed because of a lack of clinical evidence to “support my doctor’s report that I was unable to work because no imaging, labs, or tests showed anything that demonstrated functional impairment.”

A recent National Institutes of Health study found that “long Covid” may not actually exist.
