Will Smith has made his official return to social media, a full five months after walking up to Chris Rock on the stage at the Oscars and slapping him in the face over a joke Rock made about Smith’s wife.
Smith hoped to reignite interest in his Instagram with a Sunday Sunday of a massive spider invading his room at the Holiday Inn. Smith and his son Trey recorded the creepy-crawler as it made its way across the floor, prompting the actor to jump on top of a chair to avoid it. “This … the whole hell, what the whole hell? That is a big-ass spider,” Smith said, as Trey chimed in saying, “that’s a tarantula!”.

Smith wasted no time jumping back into his comedic antics while he and his son Trey worked together to overtake the big, black spider making its way across their floor.
“We alright Trey, you gotta get that outta here,” Smith instructed his son. “Come on, you’re young and strong, you can handle a bite,” Smith said in the video. “That’s the biggest spider we’ve ever seen,” Trey said. Smith then chimed in saying, “I don’t like it at all … We’re selling the house!”
Smith’s plan didn’t quite pan out the way he had hoped, and he ended up becoming actively involved in capturing the spider. Trey trapped it under a cup and they worked on sliding a paper between the floor and the cup to properly capture their unwelcome visitor. “So great, we’re taking turns, we’re a team,” Smith said, as he let out a high-pitched shriek.

His post has received nearly a million views in less than 24 hours, and has been ‘liked’ by big names such as Jamie Foxx, and Adym Evans.
Smith was expressive throughout the video, appearing like his old self in front of the camera, but Smith’s return to the public sphere didn’t come without a quick test of the waters. A day before this video was put up, Smith acknowledged the cause of his hiatus by posting a video of a baby gorilla poking at the back of a massive adult gorilla. He paired it with the caption, “me trying to get back on social,” and the sound of what Smith described as being, “Suspense, horror, piano, and music box.”
He seemed more confident posting a video that shows his face and reveals a family-moment after 1.8 million people ‘liked’ the quick teaser-post he had put up on Saturday.
