The Republican National Committee (RNC) scheduled the first 2024 Republican presidential primary debate for August in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The RNC decided the time and place of the debate through a vote on Thursday, and intends to have every candidate agree to support whoever becomes the Republican nominee in 2024, according to RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel via an email sent out to RNC members. Milwaukee will also be the location of the 2024 Republican National Convention.
“At this time, no other debates have been sanctioned, nor has the final criteria for the first debate been decided,” McDaniel wrote.

As of now, former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy are the only GOP candidates who have officially entered the race. Other likely contenders are Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott.
DeSantis is hosting a three-day retreat in Palm Beach beginning Friday which will include Republican leaders, donors and lawmakers, ahead of his Feb. 28 book launch, followed by a nationwide tour. Pence made recent trips to battleground GOP primary states, while Scott has also been touring the country, making speeches in key primary states.
