Woah.

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson could have been traded to the Philadelphia Eagles or Washington Commanders before the 2022 season, but he declined both offers with his no-trade clause, according to a new report.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network said there were points during the 2022 NFL Draft Combine where he thought either Philadelphia or Washington would land Russell Wilson in a trade. However, Wilson made it very clear to the Seattle Seahawks that he only wanted to be sent to Denver, which ultimately happened, Rapoport reported.

Rapoport spoke about what could have potentially gone down on the podcast of Joey Mulinaro (of The 33rd Team) after being asked what’s “the juiciest rumor he’s heard” at the Combine, and that’s when Rapoport brought up the Wilson rumors and said that they “shook my brain.”

“That was one where you kind of stopped everything and you’re like ‘hang on,’” Rapoport said. “Now it turned out that that was not something he was into, and he was only into going to the Broncos and I think we know the story.”

We were so close to Russell Wilson being in Philly… Just imagine that.
