Former President Donald Trump wished Republican South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott “good luck” on Monday after he announced he was running for president in 2024.

Scott made his announcement Monday to join the growing Republican field in Charleston, criticizing President Joe Biden on the economy, national security and education.

“Good luck to Senator Tim Scott in entering the Republican Presidential Primary Race,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “It is rapidly loading up with lots of people, and Tim is a big step up from Ron DeSanctimonious, who is totally unelectable. I got Opportunity Zones done with Tim, a big deal that has been highly successful. Good luck Tim!”

Scott launched an exploratory committee last month and announced a $6 million ad buy ahead of his presidential bid.

“Joe Biden and the radical left are attacking every rung of the ladder that helped me climb,” Scott said during his announcement speech. “And that is why I am announcing today that I am running for President of the United States of America!”

The 2024 contenders include former Republican South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Republican Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy. Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence are expected to enter the race soon.
