The teaser trailer for the next “Yellowstone” spin off “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” dropped Tuesday, and it looks absolutely superb.

Executive produced by “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan, and starring David Oyelowo, “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” is not your average western. The series is based on the real life lawman, who was the first black U.S. marshal. Reeves is the definitive icon of American history who is overlooked by almost everyone except modern day cowboys and the lawmen that came after him.

And now his life is being brought to life by the brilliant mind that brought you “Yellowstone,” “Hell or High Water,” “1883,” “1923,” “Tulsa King,” “Special Ops: Lioness” and so much more. The 20-second teaser doesn’t tell us much, other than we should expect the same brilliance we always get from Sheridan.

“The series brings the story of the legendary lawman and outlaws of the Wild West to life. Reeves, known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the Post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded,” the teaser description reads.

A slew of stars have signed on for the series, such as Dennis Quaid, Garrett Hedlund, Rob Morgan, and Mo Brings Plenty to name but a few. The first episodes are likely to drop this fall, which is sooner than anticipated. (RELATED: ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Is A Heart-Pounding Adrenaline Rush From Start To Finish)

With Hollywood still falling apart, it seems like Sheridan is the only person getting his content out in 2023, and I’m so here for it.
