Civil rights attorney Leo Terrell said Friday that former President Donald Trump’s most recent arrest will “come back to haunt” prosecutors in Georgia.

Trump made history late Thursday by becoming the first former president to have a mug shot taken during his surrender at Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia. The arrival in Georgia marked his fourth arrest in relation to thirteen counts connected to his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the state.

“Well Shannon, you know as well as I do, a jury foreperson going on national TV talking about a grand jury proceeding — that doesn’t happen. But it tells you right there that the fix was in,” Terrell told Fox News’ Shannon Bream on “The Faulkner Focus,” referring to Emily Kohrs, the foreperson for the special jury investigating the allegations. Kohrs appeared on cable news in February to share details about the investigation and even revealed that she wanted to subpoena Trump. The 30-year-old received major criticism from both sides of the political aisle for discussing a legal case publicly prior to any indictments being handed down.

“And I’ll tell you, Shannon,” Terrell continued during Friday’s segment, “the mug shot, that’s gonna come back and haunt the Democrats and the district attorney.”

Terrell went on to praise Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan’s push to investigate Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to find whether she used federal funds and coordinated with Department of Justice (DOJ) Special Counsel Jack Smith, who handed down two of the four indictments against Trump. “This is the politicization of the Democratic Party and the mainstream media and the federal government,” Terrell added.

Trump, along with eighteen of his allies, are facing thirteen charges including racketeering and conspiracy to make false statements and writings. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows are among those indicted.

The former president has denied any wrongdoing and called his arrest a “sad day for America” in a statement to reporters before departing for his residence in Bedminster, New Jersey.
