Britney Spears described in the pages of her memoir “The Woman in Me” what it was like to secretly abort Justin Timberlake’s baby.

“It was important that no one find out about the pregnancy or the abortion, which meant doing everything at home,” Spears wrote in her book, according to People. “We didn’t even tell my family. The only person who knew besides Justin and me was Felicia [Culotta, Spears’ former assistant], who was always on hand to help me.”

“I was told, ‘It might hurt a little bit, but you’ll be fine,'” Spears wrote.

She went on to say that’s not quite how things played out.

Spears looked back on the painful experience of undergoing a medical abortion and spoke out about Timberlake’s involvement in the procedure.

“On the appointed day, with only Felicia and Justin there, I took the little pills,” Spears wrote. “Soon I started having excruciating cramps. I went into the bathroom and stayed there for hours, lying on the floor, sobbing and screaming.”

“To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life,” Spears reportedly wrote in her memoir.

She recalled Timberlake’s attempt to comfort her during the painful experience.

“Justin came into the bathroom and lay on the floor with me,” she wrote. “At some point he thought maybe music would help, so he got his guitar and he lay there with me strumming it.”

The procedure itself wasn’t just physically painful for Spears. She described the continued emotional and psychological battle that continued long afterward.

“I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day,” she wrote. “This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.”

The famous singer claimed Timberlake’s influence ultimately led to the abortion and expressed regret within the pages of her book. (RELATED: ‘He’s Happy At Home’: Justin Timberlake’s Team Claims He’s Unaffected By Britney Spears’ Recent Revelations)

“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young,” she wrote, according to People. “If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”
