Analysis published Tuesday by Variety revealed liberals watch way more television than conservatives, but the latter shows up in force for one television network.

MRI-Simmons’ “National Consumer Study” for 2023 found that Democratic voters are huge consumers of Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Disney+ (puke), Max, Peacock, and Apple TV+, according to Variety. So while television might have moved to mostly streaming services, that hasn’t stopped political divides from appearing across all platforms and networks.

But it turns out that Republican voters outrank Democrats in viewership for one network’s streaming platform more than any other: Paramount+. And the answer as to why this is should be obvious … it’s Taylor Sheridan (and “South Park“).

Sheridan is a “Yellowstone” co-creator, and the mind behind hits like “Sicario,” “Wind River,” and “Hell or High Water.” Hs signed an absolutely epic deal with Paramount+ after bringing them the cowboy drama franchise (including spin-offs “1923,” and “1883”), which allowed him to create and executive other shows like “Tulsa King,” “Special Ops: Lioness,” and “Lawmen: Bass Reeves.”

All of these series offer viewers something no other network has managed: genuinely good escapism that doesn’t shove political wokeness, or political anything, down our throats. And Sheridan, along with every other show creator I’ve seen over at Paramount+, doesn’t dumb down the details or scripts of his shows to play to the lowest common denominator. Conservatives and Republicans aren’t showing up for Sheridan because of his politics. From interviews with Joe Rogan, it’s clear that Sheridan is pro-America, but his work is deeply historical and anthropological. He definitely doesn’t tow any political line, focusing on the human story. And I think that’s why Paramount+ has done so well since signing their deal with him.
