It’s not looking good for Jontay Porter.

The guard for the Toronto Raptors is being hit with allegations of gambling on games and making cash on some very unique self-props, and if things end up being true, you better believe he’s going to be hit with some very severe punishment by the NBA.

While speaking, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated that if the allegations against Porter are true, then he committed the “cardinal sin'” of the league, and he even went as far to say that Porter could be banned from the NBA for life, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN. If Silver pulls the trigger, Porter would be the first player ever to get permanently banned from the league.

“I have an enormous range of discipline available to me,” stated Silver during a Wednesday press conference while talking about the allegations that surround Porter. (RELATED: Getting Paid, Getting Paid! Jrue Holiday Locks Down Massive 4-Year, $135 Million Extension With Celtics)

If you’re not familiar with the story, the NBA has been investigating Porter for alleged unusual activity and gambling, focusing on two games: against the Los Angeles Clippers in a Jan. 26 contest and Mar. 20 taking on the Sacramento Kings. Porter exited both games early due to injury.

Well, now it looks like Porter could be facing a lifetime ban from the NBA for the allegations.

“But it’s a cardinal sin, what he’s accused of in the NBA, and the ultimate, extreme option I have is to ban him from the game,” added Silver. “That’s the level of authority I have here. Because there’s nothing more serious, I think, around this league when it comes to gambling: betting on our games. And that is a direct player involvement. And so, the investigation is ongoing, but the consequences could be very severe.”

Damn, Jontay … just damn … let’s see how this whole thing plays out.
