Sydney Sweeney’s acting coach Scott Sedita spoke out in the star’s defense Thursday after Hollywood producer Carol Baum said Sweeney was not a good actress and not particularly pretty.
Sedita coached Sweeney through Scott Sedita Acting Studios at the start of her career and came forward to say she was a well-trained actress with experience in the industry dating back to her teenage years, according to TMZ. He went on to note that in spite of the fact that she doesn’t have “supermodel” good looks, he believes she is beautiful in her own right.
“Sydney is beautiful because she has inner depth, intellect, compassion, style and facial features — eyes, smile, cheekbones — that the camera angles pick up on,” he said. Baum had recently publicly ripped into Sweeney by saying she couldn’t understand Sweeney’s popularity, since “she’s not pretty. She can’t act,” according to Daily Mail.
Sedita went on to say, “The camera loves her ‘look’ as well as the audience. Audiences love her because she’s relatable and approachable,” according to TMZ.
The famous actress seems to have many people in her corner. Her representative clapped back at Baum’s remarks and slammed Baum for making negative public comments about another female producer in the industry. The representative reminded Baum that Sweeney was a fellow producer, noting Sweeney had produced “ABY,” as well as, “Immaculate,” according to TMZ.
Sedita felt the star had already been through the ringer and was capable of getting past the naysayers at this stage in her career.
“She’s been through the ups and downs of this business. So you have to be pretty much a serious actress if you’re gonna go through all that,” Sedita noted, according to TMZ. (RELATED: Sydney Sweeney Reveals The Secret Behind Her Fit Physique)
“When taking feedback or critique, she processes it, uses her acting technique and makes the adjustment.”
In spite of the varied thoughts on Sweeney’s skills and physical appearance, she continues to excel in Hollywood and is currently the “it” girl in the industry.
