Police in Michigan arrested an alleged drunk driver Saturday night after she plowed into sixteen family members, killing two, law enforcement said.

Two men, a 30 and 42-year-old, were declared dead at the scene, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) posted on it’s Facebook page. Fourteen others were hurt and taken to local hospitals with minor to life-threatening injuries, according to the department.

The victims’ “ranged in age from toddler to senior citizen,” the CCSO wrote in an earlier post.

As of late Sunday, eight of the injured had been released from care, with six still hospitalized in critical condition, the CCSO revealed. (RELATED: Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes Into Birthday Party Killing Two Children, Injuring Over A Dozen More)

Clinton County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene at around 6:30 pm after the driver allegedly struck a group of people who were walking on the road’s shoulder, authorities said.

Investigators, who believe alcohol was at play, alleged that the 35-year-old female suspect fled the scene but deputies caught up to her several miles away, arrested her and booked her into the Clinton County Jail, the department revealed. The woman is expected to face charges during an arraignment on Monday.

“With heavy hearts, we pray for all of the individuals and families affected by this incident. We are here for all of you,” the CCSO posted on social media.

One Facebook user alleged that she had been a witness. “My boyfriend and I were at the river when it happened,” she wrote. “It’s by far the worst thing I’ve ever witnessed. I can’t get it out of my head.”

Another posted, “Soul ravaging. I am hurting and praying for everyone.”

The CCSO noted in its posts that the incident is currently under investigation and further information will be released later.
